Let Us Organise Your Trip to A Sporting Event
When people ask me what sets us apart from other travel agencies, I tell them, with us, you get to meet the locals. Incorporating a sporting event into your trip is an excellent way not only to meet the locals, but to see the countries you are visiting put their best foot forward. A sporting event often takes you off the well-walked tourist path to discover hidden gems. It’s a unique festival showcasing the country, and a celebration of sport, culture and food.
Some of my best travel memories include sporting events. The Rugby Sevens in Bordeaux where toasts were made with incredible wine for the winners. The Sydney 2000 Olympics closing ceremony where I was standing on a roof top watching the fireworks explode towards me lighting the river and finishing in a spectacular showcase of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The final of Rugby World Cup 2003 where I sat in the pouring rain with over 100,000 of my new mates. It was England versus Australia and standing beside me, dressed in full knight’s garb, was St. George himself looking like he was ready to slay the dragon only his face paint was starting to run. Simply magic!
There are definite advantages of arranging these activities through Down Under Endeavours. With us you get:
• officially sourced event tickets
• access to private seats
• package deals for accommodations and touring
• local knowledge of regions, ensuring that you are at the right place at the right time
• 24-hour local assistance in each country to sort out any unforeseen circumstances when you are traveling
There are always sporting events and festivals in the South Pacific. Be sure to ask us for the ones occurring during your trip or think about booking your travel around these events. Here are a few to pique your interest:
Australia
• Golf Masters -- November 2009. Tiger will play in Australia the first time since 1996.
• Tennis Open -- January 2010. Hosted by the city of Melbourne.
Tahiti
• Heiva -- July 2009. The largest annual cultural/sporting festival in Tahiti.
• Va'a -- October 2009. Over 100 canoes race between the islands of Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a and Bora Bora.
New Zealand
• New Zealand Winter Games -- August 2009. The largest winter sports event outside the Winter Olympics.
• Rugby Tri Nations -- September 2009. The mighty New Zealand All Blacks vs. Australia.
• New Zealand Challenge -- January 2010. The world’s most scenic iron distance triathlon, Challenge Wanaka, attracts top professional athletes from around the world and New Zealand to the spectacular alpine setting of Lake Wanaka.
• 2011 Rugby World Cup -- September – October 2011. Held every 4 years, matches will be played throughout New Zealand.

South Africa
Yes, we’ve expanded to South Africa travel as well! 2003 was my first trip to South Africa. Candice is heading to FIFA in 2010. We have 24-hour local support in Cape Town and can now assist planning your vacation to South Africa, including organising these sporting events for you:
• 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer -- June-July 2010. The world’s largest sporting event.
• Tour de Kruger (Tuli to Pafuri) -- August 2009. This mountain biking event will take competitors through South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe and three National Parks. The route promises excellent game viewing opportunities, history, culture and great scenery. As an added benefit, it’s a wonderful social event, with a portion of the proceeds going towards making a difference in the lives of many children.
