“All the Details Were Perfect”
Where: Australia: Barrier Reef, Ayres Rock, Sydney
and New Zealand:Auckland, Waitoma, Christchurch, Queenstown
When: December 18 to January 4
Reason for trip: We took the family (kids, spouses and grand kids) on a trip to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary
Favorite story:
That would be hard....it could be the fun we had at the Great Barrier Reef including the pleased look on four faces in our group after their first time scuba diving; or the heat wave (convection oven?) at Ayers Rock and our fun getting on the camels. Maybe the best was the kids describing the canyoning in New Zealand with Uncle Steve....the mothers were very surprised they arranged for them to go as it turned out to be much more adventurous than they realized! Of course, all the kids and one dad and uncle all had fun on the bungee jump, too. I guess they were willing for anything you could come up with!
Our last evening dinner from Corinne in our suite in Queenstown was very special! We had such fun, the food was great and the young man serving us was lots of fun. I think our grand kids think everyone gets that kind of special treatment....it was wonderful.
Biggest surprise:
I was amazed at the number of different things you were able to find for us to do! Everyone was busy all the time and excited for the next adventure. Having six kids happy to sleep with their own families and go to bed willingly was a tribute to the activities of the very full days! And to think...there are still things we haven't done!
Most unusual thing you did:
We had never been on camels before. We all enjoyed the white water rafting and the Jet Boat ride. And the hang gliding was a very big thing, Grandpa didn't get to do it when he was there 10 years ago and was happy to have the gang join him!
Best advice you’d offer to someone making the same trip:
Start by calling DOWN UNDER ENDEAVOURS!! You made things just great for us. Learn about the places you think you would like to see and check with Down Under for their advice about difficulty/interest for your group. All the things we did were exciting for our varied ages and ability levels.
All the details were perfect! Such fun to get off the plane in a new city and find a "friend" there with our name on a card! It happened over and over, and we were very grateful. We all had one bag to check, with wheels that each one could handle, and one carry on, so we were able to get around quite well, but finding the friendly smile when we looked around at the airport was very special and we know we have you to thank for that!
